Talk Until Someone Listens

On Sunday, as I was writing in my journal with my cup of warm, sweet Chai and loving dog beside me, I was also sending out ‘happy morning texts,’ which I do from time to time to family, friends and students.

I sent one text to a friend of mine who is having a particularly difficult time. His text said,

“Sitting here looking at the gorgeous sunny day, drinking my Chai…a moment of peace I send to you… xo”

Then, in a matter of seconds my life changed by one phone call.

This is what I want you to know:

If you suffer from depression, anxiety, mental illness and deep self-loathing THERE IS HELP.

Don’t lose HOPE.

CHANGE IS POSSIBLE, even when it seems impossible and unattainable.

Your life is VALUABLE and has PURPOSE; please remember that in your darkest hours.

You may feel completely alone, but you are not. There are people who will help you, support you and love you. ASK FOR HELP. If you don’t get the help you need, ASK AGAIN.

Anger can kill you.

Just because you think something, doesn’t mean it’s true. (I’m stupid, ugly, bad, not worth it etc.)

ACKNOWLEDGE THE PAIN. If you don’t acknowledge the pain, it will wait for you and expose itself in other ways. You need to acknowledge the pain and give it a voice.

PROCESS THE PAIN. Get a doctor, counselor, or psychiatrist to HELP YOU process the pain .

PAIN CAN BE TRANSFERRED. If you don’t deal with your pain, it will undoubtedly show up in others. PAIN FEEDS PAIN. Please get the help for yourself or your loved one so the cycle of pain, STOPS.

If you are a teenager, TALK UNTIL SOMEONE LISTENS.

DON’T ISOLATE. People need people, so ask for help and allow other people to be there for you.

Seek medical help for yourself or loved ones if you are faced with depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, explosive anger, deep self-loathing, cutting, eating disorders, emotional, physical or sexual abuse, drugs or alcohol. DO NOT IGNORE THE SIGNS.

BE HONEST. Don’t downplay, sugarcoat or deny the pain. People can only help if they really know what’s going on.

If you love someone TELL THEM but also SHOW THEM.

YOU ARE WORTH THE FIGHT.

YOU ARE WORTH THE FIGHT

YOU ARE WORTH THE FIGHT

Please know that your life is PRECIOUS. Your thoughts, emotions, and feelings have VALUE. Pain does not have to dictate your life. There are other CHOICES. Please SEEK HELP to make better choices for yourself and your loved ones. Talk to your doctor. Ask to see a Psychiatrist. CHOOSE LIFE. Call 911 if you are concerned about yourself or a loved one’s safety. Don’t worry about being embarrassed, ashamed or scared. Do it anyway…YOU MAY SAVE A LIFE.

It will only take a second to copy, paste, post, forward, text, Twitter, Facebook, or email this message today. PLEASE, spread the word.

With much love and gratitude,

Tina
