JOG4JOY Video

When you are in emotional pain, it’s difficult to see past the pain…it’s all you see, all you feel and all you know. It’s devastating, debilitating and extremely destructive.

I intimately know of that pain BUT I also know something else.

I know there is something beyond the pain.

There is HOPE, LOVE, SUPPORT, KINDNESS and LIFE…and there is JOY.

I am going to let a video speak for me today. This was a talk I delivered in June for an incredible event put on by Conscious Divas called Living Extraordinary Live.

I was thrilled when the mastermind, Kate Muker, asked me to be one of 12 amazing speakers, each with different messages but all with incredible INSPIRATION.

This video (below) will help you understand why I chose Jog4Joy as an avenue to create CHANGE and AWARENESS for those suffering with depression and anxiety.

My hope is that the video INSPIRES YOU to join us on October 14, 2012 in Vancouver for our first Jog4Joy event.

By supporting Jog4Joy you will also be supporting The Kelty Patrick Dennehy Foundation and all their amazing efforts and energy they put into youth suffering with depression and depression related illnesses.

I hope this video helps you BELIEVE in LIFE, LOVE and HOPE. Perhaps it will make you BELIEVE in yourSELF and the STRENGTH you have inside.

I hope it gives you a VOICE if you don’t feel heard.

Please Note: You can share this video by clicking on the share button at the top right corner of the video, and you can subscribe to my Youtube channel by clicking on “More Information” also on the top right corner.

Thank you for supporting Jog4Joy and The Kelty Patrick Dennehy Foundation by registering for the event TODAY and creating a loud voice for those suffering in silence.

IF YOU CAN’T PERSONALLY BE THERE FOR THE EVENT BUT YOU WANT TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE, YOU CAN SPONSOR SOMEONE TO BE A PARTICIPANT! WE ARE MATCHING UP YOUR SPONSORSHIPS WITH PEOPLE WHO WOULD OTHERWISE NOT BE ABLE TO ATTEND.

THAT’S PRETTY COOL!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROSITY, KINDNESS AND GIVING ANOTHER PERSON THE GIFT OF HOPE.

THANK YOU for being a part of a MOVEMENT to create CHANGE and AWARENESS for an issue that affects each and every one of us.

THANK YOU FOR BELIEVING.

With a smile,

Tina

PS. The blog following this one, goes into more detail about the event. Thanks for sharing!

We are very blessed and excited to have “The Kelty Patrick Dennehy Foundation” as our partner this year. This foundation is determined to make a difference in the mental health forum and they specifically focus on youth suffering with depression and depression related illnesses, including suicide.

This foundation is very close to my heart because I have experienced more than one occasion where youth close to me had or are currently suffering with depression and have attempted suicide. I know firsthand, the enormous pain they feel and how it directly affects those around them.

The Other Side Of Fear

I had such a FUN weekend!

Since making the DECISION to change my life and live my 40’s better than I ever lived my 20’s or 30’s, I’ve been challenging FEARS and NEGATIVE beliefs.

Instead of worrying about what others may think of me I started this website and wrote a book called “The Decision“!

Instead of limiting my experiences and allowing FEAR and ANXIETY to dictate my memories with friends and family, I jumped off a bridge…

…twice…

…and loved it!

Instead of allowing ANXIETY and STRESS to hinder my abilities, I jumped at the OPPORTUNITY to speak and share my story. I had so much FUN as I rocked the stage at Living Extraordinary Live with 11 other exceptional speakers!

Instead of procrastinating out of FEAR and ANXIETY and the uncertainty of the unknown, I have started new business opportunities (Don’t worry, I will share with you very soon because these are my passions) and I LOVE IT!

And this weekend instead of worrying about whether I’d look like a fool, swallow too much water or injure myself, I tried waterskiing…

My mother is scared of the water due to her own frightening experiences as a child so as kids we grew up not really confident in the water. Just a few short years ago, I would have said:

No, that’s okay; I’ll stay at the cabin and wait until you get back.

Inside my head and heart, I would have longed to be on the boat because it looks like so much FUN but I would have been too scared to try…

What if I wiped out and hurt myself? What if I drowned? What if I broke something? What if I looked like a fool? What if I lost my bathing suit? What if…what if…what if?

What a waste of time!

I’m acutely aware that life is PRECIOUS and life is SHORT. I want to share my LOVE, HEART and my LIFE with people. I want to experience new things! I want to LAUGH. I want to challenge myself and open up my world…

I’m proud I went for it. Despite feeling nervous because it was new and I’m not a strong swimmer and there is ‘risk’ involved…I still faced my fears and had FUN.

…and although I swallowed a lot of water (A LOT OF WATER!) and didn’t make it up, I sure had a great time. I was fortunate to have loving people who were very patient as I tried and tried and tried but never quite got there.

I used different skis, they continued to give me instructions and let me keep going because I was really determined to get up! Unfortunately exhaustion set in and it was time to go…next year, I will try again.

I had a blast and just feel very blessed, extremely grateful and HAPPY.

For those who grew up on the water, I realize this isn’t a big deal but for a farm girl who was scared of her own shadow for such a long time, this was another defining moment in my life.

They say, whatever you are afraid of, is the very thing you should do…I now embrace learning, growing and being open to new opportunities, experiences and relationships. I can honestly say, life is so much better when you live that way!

A big thank you to my friends who are FAMILY…I love you and appreciate all you have done for me.

REMEMBER: ON THE OTHER SIDE OF FEAR IS FUN!

With a smile,

Tina

Rest Your Body; Exercise Your Mind

Are you struggling with an injury? I know exactly how that feels; it’s challenging on your emotions and energy. When you have goals and expectations of yourself, it’s not fun having to rest, ice and stretch when you really want to walk, run or hike.

What do I suggest?

Rest your body; exercise your mind.

Your mind has incredible POWER so it’s important to watch what you are THINKING. If you spend too long feeling sorry for yourself or thinking like a victim, it will wreak havoc on completing your goal.

REST YOUR BODY; EXERCISE YOUR MIND.

How do you do that?

Here are three ways to keep fit in your thoughts and attitude:

1. Create a vision board. You want to visually see everything you desire regarding your goal. Have images of happy, healthy people crossing finish lines, strong athletes and of course that finisher medal. If you have a specific time you are aiming for, put that on the board as well. If you need support, put images of supportive faces, cheer leaders or someone you admire and want to emulate.

2. Purchase a journal. Write regularly about what kind of experience you want to have on the day of your race/event. Again, you want this to be in full detail. Explain how you are feeling (strong, happy, proud of yourself, grateful, healthy etc), the weather, the great accomplishment when crossing the finish line, celebrating your joy, hard work and dedication. This is an extremely powerful tool.

3. Feed yourself with positivity. Surround yourself with positive, supportive people. Read positive literature, magazine articles, web information, books, novels, success stories etc. Think in terms of, “Is this helping me or is this harming me?” regarding your thoughts and the energy you are around. DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF POSITIVE THINKING.

I used these three tools to help me cross the finish line both with my 40by40 (40k on my 40th birthday) and my marathon last October. I can tell you with absolute certainty that it works. You are creating a strong foundation of BELIEF in yourself, your abilities, your body and your mind.

REST YOUR BODY; EXERCISE YOUR MIND.

Listen to your doctor, coach, physiotherapist, chiropractor or massage therapist. Listen to the professionals and rest, ice and stretch if that is what is recommended but don’t let your mind wander to negativity.

REST YOUR BODY; EXERCISE YOUR MIND.

I love the summer, so I hope you are enjoying the beautiful sunshine, blue skies and time with family and friends. See you on Tuesday!

With a smile,

Tina

Don’t Stop Pedaling!

Self growth doesn’t end until you do.

Sometimes we think when we get everything we want such as the perfect career, amazing spouse, healthy children, loving friends and financial abundance that there isn’t anything else to learn. You’ve got it all! What more could you possibly want?

Perhaps it’s not necessarily what you want, but what you NEED.

Perhaps it’s a better understanding of compassion towards others or yourSELF.

Perhaps it’s a deeper level of patience or a more expansive understanding of LOVE.

Perhaps it’s about CONNECTION.

I don’t have the answer for you because self growth is individual and our learning process is just as unique. What I do know is this: It doesn’t matter if you are a doctor, lawyer, waitress, mechanic, counsellor, dog groomer, teacher, parent or president…

We ALL have our own fears to face, challenges to overcome and lessons to learn. We can all go deeper, it’s just a matter of how deep we’ll allow ourselves to go.

YOU LIVE TO LEARN.

It’s about EVOLVING as a human being: physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually (whatever that means to you).

It’s about consistently peeling back the layers and gaining a deeper level of understanding of yourSELF and the world around you.

LIFE and all the experiences it provides is a GIFT and an HONOUR.

Embrace the process and it becomes easier. You may say to yourself:

That’s great Tina; sounds so simple but how do you EMBRACE financial stress? Health issues? Relationship troubles? Grief?

I’m not saying it’s easy.

It’s like riding a bicycle and you approach a hill, if you stop pedaling you will fall over, crash and injure yourself. It will hurt. If you keep pedaling, one push after another, you will eventually reach the top where you can coast for awhile on the other side.

Both options are difficult but one option has a greater understanding of ‘digging deep’ and not giving up. It is through continuing to move forward that the lessons and rewards reveal themselves.

In basic terms, I believe we are here to experience a greater understanding of LOVE in all forms, to all people, including ourselves.

You are learning at five years old and you are learning at 85 years old; that is my belief. The question is how deep are you willing to go and how far are you willing to pedal?

With a smile,

Tina
