Emotional Bravery

I had a week full of human heart connections.

With each conversation I was humbled by people’s BRAVERY. I am always honoured when people open up and speak from their heart. It takes COURAGE to tell your story when there is pain and struggle involved and the risk that you may be judged, criticized or be the topic of gossip.

I BELIEVE VULNERABILITY IS DIRECTLY CONNECTED TO BRAVERY.

How? Because it does not come from being weak; it comes from despite being afraid, you find the STRENGTH to be OPEN. It takes enormous COURAGE to be vulnerable in a world that deems it as a weakness.

THE REALITY IS WE ARE ALL BRAVE, FIGHTING OUR EMOTIONAL BATTLES.

Both men and women have their struggles and it takes COURAGE to talk about it. I think women are more open to conversations because men have been brought up to believe that in order to be strong and a ‘real’ man, you must push through your emotions and not show how you feel.

Tears are not manly.

I TOTALLY DISAGREE.

I have the deepest RESPECT for men (and women) who share their feelings going against what they’ve been told and instead honouring their heart and their experiences. I think it shows DEPTH, COURAGE and STRENGTH to understand and show emotion and is the opposite of weakness.

If we are completely honest, we have ALL experienced some sort of pain whether it’s a broken heart, grief, trauma or hardships. We’ve all experienced stress and we all continue to wake up each morning to take on the day despite what happened the day prior.

Everyone’s emotional battle is unique to them but ultimately it will resonate with someone else. We are connected by heart and by pain. We are connected because we continue to fight. We are ultimately STRONGER, BRAVER and have a greater capacity to LOVE than we think possible.

Emotional bravery means you recognize and honour your pain.

You understand that you are a SURVIVOR and you have enormous STRENGTH to come through your experience.

  • I honour you.
  • I honour your emotional journey.
  • I honour your courage to be vulnerable.
  • I honour your will to survive.
  • I honour your tears.

YOU ARE BRAVE. YOU ARE STRONG. YOU ARE A SURVIVOR.

With a smile,

Tina

Law of Attraction

What does the Law of Attraction mean to you?

When I looked in the mirror, staring deep into my eyes and recited affirmations, I thought I knew what it meant. Today I think it’s powerful but often misunderstood.

Like millions of people I read “The Secret”. During that time in my life I was in and out of a highly toxic, controlling relationship, suffered from extreme anxiety and dark depressions. I loved my work but isolated from my friends and family. I struggled through my life wishing, hoping and yearning for something better.

I just wanted life to be a little easier…

I read about the Law of Attraction and I began focusing on my thinking.

I visualized what I wanted: a life full of love, happiness, honesty and authenticity. I wanted a nice place to live, a better car and a man who really loved me. I wanted to take regular holidays and have financial freedom. I wished for a better life so I started thinking and journaling about this “other life” I desired.

What I failed to understand (this is the embarrassing part) was that I had to DO something about it!

When you are depressed, anxious and in a toxic relationship it’s very difficult to motivate yourself and create change if you are exhausted and feeling such despair. I understand this to my core so I have great compassion for myself; however, I also know the hard truth. I was looking for the ‘EASY BUTTON’.

There is no easy button when it comes to change…there is only the DECISION TO CHANGE, and the TIME, COMMITMENT and HARD WORK it takes to get there.

It is by no coincidence then that it is called the law of AttrACTION…

  • YOU DECIDE to work on your THOUGHTS and create a more POSITIVE inner world.
  • YOU COMMIT to creating POSITIVE change.
  • YOU CREATE a PLAN about how you are going to get what you desire.
  • YOU WORK towards your GOALS one step at a time.
  • YOU CELEBRATE your SUCCESS.

ALL THOSE STEPS INVOLVE ACTION AND THROUGH ACTION, YOU WILL ATTRACT POSITIVE RESULTS.

Law of attrACTION is the LAW OF ACTION.

Nothing gets done by just thinking about it…you have to DO something.

ACTION CREATES RESULTS.

  • POSITIVE THINKING is part of the ACTION PLAN.
  • VISUALIZING is part of the ACTION PLAN.
  • DOING is part of the ACTION PLAN.

Making a DECISION, COMMITTING to that DECISION and then ACTIVELY WORKING towards that GOAL will get you much further than just thinking about it.

If you suffer with depression or anxiety like I did, then that should be your priority. Incorporate a full program (mental, physical, spiritual and emotional) that builds towards mental and emotional health. That is your ACTION in your law of attrACTION. It is my experience that when I made my mental and emotional health my PRIORITY, things started to shift in a POSITIVE way.

You deserve a fulfilling life. Start today. Create the life you deserve.

With a smile,

Tina

JOG4JOY Video

When you are in emotional pain, it’s difficult to see past the pain…it’s all you see, all you feel and all you know. It’s devastating, debilitating and extremely destructive.

I intimately know of that pain BUT I also know something else.

I know there is something beyond the pain.

There is HOPE, LOVE, SUPPORT, KINDNESS and LIFE…and there is JOY.

I am going to let a video speak for me today. This was a talk I delivered in June for an incredible event put on by Conscious Divas called Living Extraordinary Live.

I was thrilled when the mastermind, Kate Muker, asked me to be one of 12 amazing speakers, each with different messages but all with incredible INSPIRATION.

This video (below) will help you understand why I chose Jog4Joy as an avenue to create CHANGE and AWARENESS for those suffering with depression and anxiety.

My hope is that the video INSPIRES YOU to join us on October 14, 2012 in Vancouver for our first Jog4Joy event.

By supporting Jog4Joy you will also be supporting The Kelty Patrick Dennehy Foundation and all their amazing efforts and energy they put into youth suffering with depression and depression related illnesses.

I hope this video helps you BELIEVE in LIFE, LOVE and HOPE. Perhaps it will make you BELIEVE in yourSELF and the STRENGTH you have inside.

I hope it gives you a VOICE if you don’t feel heard.

Please Note: You can share this video by clicking on the share button at the top right corner of the video, and you can subscribe to my Youtube channel by clicking on “More Information” also on the top right corner.

Thank you for supporting Jog4Joy and The Kelty Patrick Dennehy Foundation by registering for the event TODAY and creating a loud voice for those suffering in silence.

IF YOU CAN’T PERSONALLY BE THERE FOR THE EVENT BUT YOU WANT TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE, YOU CAN SPONSOR SOMEONE TO BE A PARTICIPANT! WE ARE MATCHING UP YOUR SPONSORSHIPS WITH PEOPLE WHO WOULD OTHERWISE NOT BE ABLE TO ATTEND.

THAT’S PRETTY COOL!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROSITY, KINDNESS AND GIVING ANOTHER PERSON THE GIFT OF HOPE.

THANK YOU for being a part of a MOVEMENT to create CHANGE and AWARENESS for an issue that affects each and every one of us.

THANK YOU FOR BELIEVING.

With a smile,

Tina

PS. The blog following this one, goes into more detail about the event. Thanks for sharing!

The Other Side Of Fear

I had such a FUN weekend!

Since making the DECISION to change my life and live my 40’s better than I ever lived my 20’s or 30’s, I’ve been challenging FEARS and NEGATIVE beliefs.

Instead of worrying about what others may think of me I started this website and wrote a book called “The Decision“!

Instead of limiting my experiences and allowing FEAR and ANXIETY to dictate my memories with friends and family, I jumped off a bridge…

…twice…

…and loved it!

Instead of allowing ANXIETY and STRESS to hinder my abilities, I jumped at the OPPORTUNITY to speak and share my story. I had so much FUN as I rocked the stage at Living Extraordinary Live with 11 other exceptional speakers!

Instead of procrastinating out of FEAR and ANXIETY and the uncertainty of the unknown, I have started new business opportunities (Don’t worry, I will share with you very soon because these are my passions) and I LOVE IT!

And this weekend instead of worrying about whether I’d look like a fool, swallow too much water or injure myself, I tried waterskiing…

My mother is scared of the water due to her own frightening experiences as a child so as kids we grew up not really confident in the water. Just a few short years ago, I would have said:

No, that’s okay; I’ll stay at the cabin and wait until you get back.

Inside my head and heart, I would have longed to be on the boat because it looks like so much FUN but I would have been too scared to try…

What if I wiped out and hurt myself? What if I drowned? What if I broke something? What if I looked like a fool? What if I lost my bathing suit? What if…what if…what if?

What a waste of time!

I’m acutely aware that life is PRECIOUS and life is SHORT. I want to share my LOVE, HEART and my LIFE with people. I want to experience new things! I want to LAUGH. I want to challenge myself and open up my world…

I’m proud I went for it. Despite feeling nervous because it was new and I’m not a strong swimmer and there is ‘risk’ involved…I still faced my fears and had FUN.

…and although I swallowed a lot of water (A LOT OF WATER!) and didn’t make it up, I sure had a great time. I was fortunate to have loving people who were very patient as I tried and tried and tried but never quite got there.

I used different skis, they continued to give me instructions and let me keep going because I was really determined to get up! Unfortunately exhaustion set in and it was time to go…next year, I will try again.

I had a blast and just feel very blessed, extremely grateful and HAPPY.

For those who grew up on the water, I realize this isn’t a big deal but for a farm girl who was scared of her own shadow for such a long time, this was another defining moment in my life.

They say, whatever you are afraid of, is the very thing you should do…I now embrace learning, growing and being open to new opportunities, experiences and relationships. I can honestly say, life is so much better when you live that way!

A big thank you to my friends who are FAMILY…I love you and appreciate all you have done for me.

REMEMBER: ON THE OTHER SIDE OF FEAR IS FUN!

With a smile,

Tina
