Celebrate Every Side Of YOU!

I saw this ad and had to take a photo. Every once in a while advertisers get it right. In this case it was Winners.

Do you celebrate every side of YOU? Can you look in the mirror every single day and think:

“Girrrrl, you look fine. Look at that chin. You are rocking that dimpled chin! Look at your stomach, shoulder, mole, wrinkle, knuckle and cellulite. You are the bomb!”

I don’t do that! I wish I could say I did, but that wouldn’t be honest. I have days where I’ll look in the mirror and there will be some part of my body that my critical eye will rest upon and spew negativity towards.

It’s so sad because I’m not appreciating a part of who I am! I am being critical, mean and negative towards mySELF. On those days I have a negative body image.

So, if YOU, who is with yourSELF 24/7 for the rest of your life is being critical of your body: STOP!

How can you possibly go into the world with a whole sense of the BEAUTIFUL YOU that you truly are if you are judging yourSELF and nurturing a negative body image. That’s not right.

It’s sad to think you may think anything less than:

“I love my body. I love this truly amazing machine that breathes, blinks, digests, and fights disease. I love this miraculous body that really knows how to take care of itself if I listen.”

Today, I encourage you to join me. I am going to STOP THE NEGATIVITY and CELEBRATE EVERY SIDE OF ME and I want YOU to do the same for yourSELF!

I CELEBRATE THE BUMP ON MY NOSE. I don’t particularly like it but it’s part of my face. It is part of my body. It is a part of me!

I CELEBRATE MY STRETCH MARKS. When I hit 16 I had a growth spurt. That growth spurt created stretch marks and all the creams in the world won’t get rid of them. They are a part of how my body grew. I love me; therefore, I love them.

I CELEBRATE MY TEETH. They are crooked, uneven and not bright white. I celebrate the teeth I have because they still chomp down well on a good sandwich. That’s what I was born with and I will not criticize what I was given!

I CELEBRATE MY WRINKLES. I am 42 years old and getting older. Wrinkles are a natural part of life. They are road maps of our experiences, good, bad and lovely. They are the storytellers of our face so I celebrate my wrinkles! The only difference today is I plan on creating them with laughter instead of fear, anxiety or stress.

Today make the choice to look in the mirror and send the HEALING ENERGY of LOVE towards the parts of your body you have been critical. Please don’t invest in negative body image. CELEBRATE EVERY SIDE OF YOU!

REMEMBER: LOVE IS ENERGY.

CELEBRATE EVERY SIDE OF YOU BECAUSE YOU ARE A BEAUTIFUL AND UNIQUE PERSON.

With a smile,

Tina

The Jog Blog – 49

I NEED SLEEP! If I go more than a day or two without proper sleep I function at a much lower capacity than usual. I have no energy; I’m not as cheerful and my thoughts aren’t clear. This affects all areas of my life! My work, my training and relationships.

Occassionally I’ll suffer from insomnia but usually it’s avoidable. In keeping with Tuesday’s blog about SELF CARE, I wanted to share the tips I use that help ensure I’m getting a good sleep.

Go to bed and wake up at the same time every day. Generally speaking I follow this rule; however, the seasons affect how long I sleep. In the summer I’ll bounce out of bed at sunrise but in the dark winter months I struggle to get out of bed at my normal time so I have to adjust.

Stretch, meditate or listen to quiet music prior to bed. I don’t do all of these things all of the time but I will incorporate a good stretch with quiet, deep breathing if I have a lot on my mind.

Take a warm bath or hot shower. I love crawling into bed after a hot shower or bath. My bones feel warm and it’s much easier for me to fall asleep if I’m comfy cozy.

Limit caffeine during the day. This is crucial for me as I’m super sensitive to caffeine. I have one Chai latte in the morning and then that’s it. If I have any more caffeine, whether it’s coffee, tea or even a piece of dark chocolate, I will pay for it later that night.

Create a good sleeping environment. I love my comfy bed, soft sheets and duvet and have created a peaceful setting. I need quiet to fall asleep so I usually sleep with ear plugs and my room is kept cool.

Avoid food and alcohol approximately 2 hours before you plan to sleep. This is what is recommended; however, it’s difficult for me due to my work hours. I have to eat my main meal in the early afternoon so I’m very hungry when I get home. I must eat! Having a glass of wine does affect my sleep so I keep that to weekends.

AVOID TV, COMPUTER, CELL PHONES OR IPADS BEFORE BED. I know, I know, that’s a tough one but the screens actually stimulate the brain so you aren’t really getting tired. Your eyes may get tired but your brain isn’t winding down, it’s winding UP.

EXERCISE definitely promotes getting a good sleep as your body will be tired and ready to rest by the end of the day. I definitely sleep better since I’ve incorporated regular exercise into my life. If you need some tips on how to motivate yourself to exercise, click HERE.

As we know, getting a good sleep is essential to good health. It keeps your body strong and able to fight infection, your mind clear and alert and your mental / emotional wellness balanced. According to the Mayo Clinic, if you are sleep deprived you are more apt to suffer from depression, anxiety and weight gain.

So my friends, make a good night’s sleep a PRIORITY! You may find that by making a small change to your sleep habits you will rest easier.

For those of you in the United States, have a wonderful Thanksgiving full of laughter, love and gratitude. We all have much to be thankful for, pause and remember how blessed we truly are.

Wishing you peaceful dreams and a good night’s sleep.

With a smile,

Tina

Choose YOU – What Does That Mean?

In previous blogs, I’ve often said, “Choose YOU” but what do I mean?

Do I mean push your way to the front of the line when there are others ahead of you? Brag about how fast you can run, how much money you made last week or what your boyfriend bought you when you know your friend is so broke she can’t pay her phone bill? Do I mean that you fend for youself and don’t extend a kind gesture toward a stranger because you are in a hurry?

Goodness, NO!

Those examples are all EGO.

When I say choose YOU, I do not mean choose EGO.

Choose YOU means:

  • Choose INSTINCT
  • Choose AUTHENTICITY
  • Choose INTEGRITY
  • Choose HONESTY
  • Choose your natural state of being which is LOVE.

Choose YOU means you honour youSELF by listening and respecting that quiet voice that tells the TRUTH.

Your EGO lies; INSTINCT always tells the TRUTH.

Choose YOU means you pay attention to that quiet WISDOM that says, “Don’t trust this person” even though they may seem like the nicest person in the world. Choose YOU means if something doesn’t feel right, you pay attention.

EGO is created, INSTINCT you are born with.

Choose YOU means you take CARE of yourSELF so you are more available to others. By exercising, eating healthy and taking time to sit and reflect in quiet solitude for a few minutes each day, you are creating positive energy to give to those around you.

Choose YOU means you no longer PEOPLE PLEASE to the detriment of your time, emotions and energy.

Choose YOU means you give to yourSELF what you give to others: RESPECT, LOVE, KINDNESS, PATIENCE, NURTURING, VALIDATION and SUPPORT.

Choose YOU means that you understand SELF CARE IS NOT SELFISH.

Choose YOU means you live a life of AUTHENTICITY by honouring your word to yourSELF as well as to others.

Choose YOU is the furthest place from EGO. It’s not about hurting others or ignoring their needs or being rigid in your life and not allowing others to enter your heart. Nor is it about being first, right, better than, rude, distant, selfish or cold.

It’s the opposite.

It’s honouring the very essence of who you are so you can live life OPENLY, AUTHENTICALLY and LOVINGLY. You can be more giving, more vulnerable and more trusting because you listen to your inner voice and you honour its wisdom.

Choose YOU, not from a place of EGO, but from a place of INSTINCT.

So my friends, please take care of that beautiful person inside. Nurture, love and respect your voice. Honour and validate your feelings. Take care of the body that houses your soul.

Choose LOVE.

Choose INSTINCT.

Choose AUTHENTICITY.

CHOOSE YOU!

With a smile,

Tina

THE Jog Blog – 48

If you live in Canada or most of the United States, November is a cold, wet, dark, and often windy month. The truth is it’s harder to motivate yourself to exercise when it’s yucky outside. It’s easier to sleep in, cuddle under a blanket by the fire and watch a movie. Don’t get me wrong, I love to relax but if you are exercising less because of the weather I want to give you some MOTIVATION TO KEEP MOVING!

PLEASE NOTE: When I say this to YOU, I am also saying it to mySELF!

A twenty minute workout is better than a zero minute workout.

Ha! Isn't that the truth!

Whether it’s a fifteen minute mile or a seven minute mile, it’s still a mile!

No matter how slow you go, you are still lapping everyone who is sitting at their computer, watching TV or sleeping in!

If you have time to watch TV, comment on Facebook, Tweet, complain, check your emails or watch a movie you have time to work out. It only takes twenty minutes to improve your cardio. Twenty minutes!!

You have a choice. You can throw in the towel or you can use it to wipe the sweat off your face! (Love that one!)

Hate to tell you this but EXERCISE IS FOREVER! Find something you enJOY!

“I’ll do it tomorrow.” Wait a minute, yesterday you said, “Tomorrow”! Those ‘tomorrows’ add up. Instead say, “Today.” Better yet, say, “NOW!” and get out there and DO IT.

Smiling is my favourite exercise; however, I didn’t smile (from the inside) until I started jogging! Natural endorphins are the BEST happy drug.

HAPPY!

Exercise makes you stronger not only physically but mentally and emotionally too. I KNOW THIS TO BE TRUE!

EVERY ACCOMPLISHMENT STARTS WITH THE DECISION TO TRY.

I will be honest with you. If you are just starting to exercise, there is no ‘easy’ button. It will take a commitment and then it will take hard work and determination. Despite this seemingly negative statement, I can guarantee it will be the best thing for you! You’ll notice improvements in all areas of your life. Exercise is a good stress relief and helps with anxiety and depression. It also can help you deal with grief, loss, anger, frustration and sadness. You can do it alone, or do it with others, whatever way works best for you. EXERCISE LEADS TO JOY.

I wish you a beautiful weekend full of fresh air, HAPPY ENDORPHINS bouncing around your body and a big smile on your face because you can say, “YA! I DID IT!”

I’ll leave you with a quote to think about over the weekend. See you on Tuesday!

We are what we repeatedly do – Aristotle

With a smile,

Tina

PS. If you don’t know where to begin, you need my book, “The Decision”. My story will motivate and inspire you! I give you simple steps to set you up for SUCCESS! It’s also a great gift to help someone else get healthy and happy!

A Coffee And A Donut…

I think this is the first blog I’ve written and rewritten so many times my head is spinning! As a result I’ve decided to share a conversation with you:

Tina, what’s going on that you can’t communicate what you are feeling? What do you want to say that is so difficult?

I decided to change the price of my book to $9.95

Awesome! Why?

I think if I lower the price more people can access it.

That’s great but you worked really hard on this book.

I know but honestly, I just want to help people. That’s the main reason I wrote “The Decision”. It’s truthful, inspiring and I think will motivate people to LIVE WITH AUTHENTICITY. That’s so important to me! I know what it feels like to live in pain and suffer on a daily basis. I want to help people find their JOY!

But don’t you want to make money? You are cutting the price of the book in half!

I know! I LOVE BEING THE BOSS! Haha, of course, I have bills to pay just like everyone else but after jogging, meditating and listening to my instinct and true intention, it is more important to make it accessible to as many people as possible.

So why is it so hard to tell them? This is a really GOOD thing! Do you think people will judge you?

They might but how can they fault me for being honest? How can they fault me for wanting to help people? It’s the right thing to do.

Do you think they’ll feel like your book is worth LESS now that you are lowering the price?

I hope not, but that is a risk I’m willing to take. “The Decision” still contains my story told with absolute HONESTY and VULNERABILITY. It gives steps on how I processed past PAIN and current STRESS and it shares how I found joy in my life and how I SUSTAIN that JOY. The content of the book hasn’t changed. All I’ve done is made it more accessible in order to get the message into more people’s hands. I think that’s a good thing!

What does your ego say?

Ooo, my ego is nasty. It says I shouldn’t lower the price of my book because it will look bad. My ego is very scared of what people will think. It’s so negative!

And what does your INSTINCT say?

My instinct just wants to help people!

What voice is stronger, fear or instinct?

INSTINCT. Fear is louder but instinct is STRONGER.

Helping people is my priority.

As mentioned in “Before and AFTER”, I will always share honestly and openly with you. I was not struggling with the choice of lowering the price of the book but rather in how to tell you. As always, the best policy for me is to be honest about it!

I am HAPPY to tell you the book is now basically the price of a cup of coffee and a donut.

So, you can drive through Starbucks and place your daily order or purchase the book and see how it can change your life. You can invest in Starbucks or you can invest in yourSELF.

MY WISH IS THAT YOU ARE HAPPY, FULFILLED AND LIVING AUTHENTICALLY.

If you aren’t, perhaps “The Decision” will resonate with you and help you make the changes to find your AUTHENTIC HAPPINESS.

Thank you for reading today’s blog. I always feel so grateful that you stopped by and shared my site with others. Please keep the emails, comments and messages flowing. Your input is greatly appreciated.

With a smile,

Tina
