WOW!

In 9 days I run the Goodlife Fitness Marathon, in Victoria, B.C. with my dear friend Jody from Leapfit. 9 DAYS! I’m excited for my other dear friends and family who have been working hard towards their goal of a half marathon. WHAT A FABULOUS DAY!

SWEET 40’S

In a week I turn 42 and I am so GRATEFUL for the life I have created and I am currently manifesting. Being in your 40’s is LIBERATING, FASCINATING, SEXY and FUN. I’m having the time of my life!

THANK YOU!

Benita from Ocean Wellness has been instrumental in helping me prepare for this marathon. She has listened to my sorrows, laughed at my predicaments, and kept me in alignment, not only with my body but with my life. THANK YOU BENITA.

WHY I CHOSE TO RUN A FULL MARATHON – TRAINING TIPS BASED ON MY EXPERIENCE:

1. I decided I needed one more year to work out any remaining pain that may be lingering deep in my soul. I still needed more time to heal and training for a marathon gave me a GOAL to work towards physically but also emotionally.

2. I wasn’t quite ready to date and I knew training for a marathon would help me in this area. Today, I am OPEN and EXCITED for the possibilities ahead. I look forward to sharing my life with a LOYAL, HONEST, AUTHENTIC and HONOURABLE man who LOVES, SUPPORTS and RESPECTS me.

3. It’s the one and only time I will ever run 42K on my 42nd birthday. I had to do it! Running 40K on my 40th was incredible but I heard more than once, “You should just run the marathon”. At that time, I didn’t want to. I wanted to run the distance of my age, and that’s what I did. Now, it’s time to run 42K in honour of this upcoming birthday.

4.I want to CELEBRATE! I love birthdays and I think each life should be celebrated. I am looking forward to cake and bubbly the day before with people I LOVE and then running and enjoying each and every minute of the 42K.

Because of number 4, I have decided to change my start time. Currently Jody and I are in a later start time because we are suppose to finish by 5 hours and 29 minutes. I’m pretty confident I could cross the finish line within that time but I want to ENJOY THE RUN.

  • I want to take in all the BEAUTY that will surround us on this gorgeous route.
  • I want to chat and LAUGH with my friend.
  • I want to SING!
  • Maybe I’ll DANCE!
  • I want to say hello to the people on the side of the road.
  • I want to stop and take our photo at certain distance markers.
  • I want to create a day that is about CELEBRATION not competitiveness, nausea or pain.
  • I want a day that is JOYFUL and FUN.

In 9 days I will reach a goal I made a year ago. I will run with a SMILE on my face and a LOVE in my heart. THIS IS A CHOICE. I embraced another year of learning, loving, and listening to the many lessons I’ve experienced and I am excited for the year ahead.

CELEBRATE this weekend for the LIFE you are BLESSED to live. Look around you and see all the glorious GIFTS. Hug a friend. Give a stranger a compliment. Mean it. Look in the mirror and see the beauty, talent and gift YOU are to the world.

Honour YOUR life by CELEBRATING YOUR LIFE!

This is my wish for you.

With a smile,

Tina

PS. See you on Tuesday!

I’M SO EXCITED!!

It’s only 16 days until the Goodlife Fitness Marathon in Victoria, BC. On October 9th, I’ll run 42K with my dear friend Jody, from Leapfit and celebrate with my friends and family from Kamloops, BC and Fort Saskatchewan, AB. They will run the half marathon, cheer for each other and accomplish their goals. What a glorious day it will be!!!

I’M SO EXCITED!!

My book is in the final stages and I have to say, I really love it! It’s been a year of hard work, but I think you are going to love the end result. I can’t wait to share it with you!

I’M SO EXCITED!!

Can I really be any more excited? Yes! My birthday is in two weeks and I’m excited to turn 42! Each day is a blessing and I have such GRATITUDE for the life I am now living. It was not without a lot of soul searching and soul healing but now my life is divine and I’m really excited for the year ahead of me!

How I’m MENTALLY Preparing For This MARATHON – Training Tips Based On My Experience:

I would be lying to you if I said I wasn’t nervous, scared or a little anxious about the coming run. Little thoughts creep into my head:

“You haven’t done enough distance training.”

“You aren’t as strong as you were during your 40K run.”

“You aren’t ready.”

“What if you are nauseous the entire way?”

Those thoughts are brutal aren’t they? So, here’s the TRUTH:

I HAVE CONTROL OVER THOSE THOUGHTS!

So, do I want to invest and nurture those doubts, anxieties and worries or do I shut them down?

I SHUT THEM DOWN!

How?

Replace them with POSITIVE, NURTURING, LOVING and EXCITED thoughts!

1. I visualize the beautiful sunny day and the gorgeous route along the ocean, which I love so much.

2. I think of how much FUN I am going to have with my friends and family the days before and the day of the run.

3. I think of the sheer JOY I will feel when I cross that finish line and I tear up thinking of my friends and family being there to cheer me on. It’s such a remarkable accomplishment whether it’s a 5k, 10k, 21k or 42k race. It takes hard work, commitment, dedication and sacrifice and I can’t wait to feel that enormous pride of crossing the finish line! I DID IT!! Ya-hoo!!!

4. Any concern I have of tight calves, nausea, pain in my hip or my feet burning I focus on seeing myself running with a SMILE on my face, a JOY in my heart, and feeling GOOD and STRONG.

5. I visualize what I want to see happen, not what I am worried about happening.

6. POSITIVE energy and words replace negative energy and words.

7. JOY and GRATITUDE replace fear and anxiety.

I have DECIDED this is going to be an amazing day…and so it shall be…

I am not running for time, I am running for FUN. I am running to CELEBRATE one more year of processing any remainder pain that may have been lingering inside of me. I am running 42 kilometers to CELEBRATE my 42nd birthday.

I AM EXCITED!!

Hope you have a blessed weekend full of meaningful conversations, quiet moments of peace and loud boisterous laughter! See you on Tuesday!

With a smile,

Tina

Happy Feet!

As I’ve mentioned before, new shoes are very important. Since my full marathon is a stone’s throw away, I need to put some miles in new runners before I jog that distance. LadySport gave me EXCEPTIONAL service as usual when I got my new Mizunos. Click HERE to see all the fun stuff they have; they even have kids shoes!

New Place!

Yes, earlier in the month I moved into into my new home. I love where I live. Manifesting your life creates such blessings…it also created a sore back! Thankfully with all the lifting of boxes, cleaning and sorting over the last few weeks, I’ve got Benita, from Ocean Wellness to put me back together again.

What To Do When You Have A “Bad” Run - Training Tips Based On My Experience:

People will tell you, there are no bad runs if you are out there doing it. There is truth in that; however, there are also ‘not great’ runs where it seems near impossible to get through and when you’re done, you are just thankful it’s over. This is what I do with those less than inspiring jogs.

1. LET IT GO – On Monday I had a difficult run and it was only around 6K so it wasn’t one of my long runs. I was just having an ‘off’ day. If this happens to you, remember to not allow this run to affect other runs. It’s one day and you got through it – move on. Don’t dwell on it or beat yourself up. That’s not going to help you. Let it go. Let it go. Let it go.

2. REST - It’s important to make sure you aren’t doing too much and your body is just tired! If that’s the case, please, take the day or two and rest up. The next run will be stronger and more energized and your mind will be more focused.

3. STOP THE NEGATIVITY – This is kind of like the first point. Don’t allow that negative voice inside your head to ‘run’ with the thought that you are somehow a ‘bad’ jogger, or you are weak, lazy or whatever terrible things it might tell you. This is a time to be kind and gentle towards yourself. Have a shower and go on with the rest of your day leaving the negativity behind you, in the laundry basket with your sweaty socks.

4. CONGRATULATE YOURSELF – I realize this is difficult to do when you’ve just experienced a slow jog that felt like your legs were in cement and your stomach was negotiating with a bad chicken bone. Congratulate yourself because you got through it when it really sucked. BRAVO!!

With kids back in school and finally getting into routine, make sure YOU carve out a little time for yourSELF to refuel, recharge and revitalize. You will have far more energy for that to-do list and you’ll be more patient and loving towards those around you as a result.

Take a minute, stop, and breathe.

I take my own advice and it really helps to get your energy back up and ready for the next round.

Have a safe and happy weekend! See you on Tuesday.

With a smile,

Tina

THE Endorphinator

I had an interesting conversation with someone last week and they asked if I’d ever felt the endorphin high when I jog.

“Yes!” I said enthusiastically.

“What’s it like?” he said.

This sweet guy had felt great after a soccer game but wasn’t sure he’d felt the endorphin high after jogging…he didn’t think so. I promised him I would send him an email before and after my jog.

I share my messages to him with YOU, so you can also see what an endorphin high is like:

Before:

Tired

Sleepy

Sore

Content but not high energy

A little lazy feeling…

Pleased it’s sunny and not raining

I have to wake up still…this is sleepy Tina pre-jog

AFTER!!!!!!!!!!!

First, I should mention that I am glistening…albeit from sweat, but it’s all a matter of perspective you see…and in the sunshine I am glistening…

Oh, where to begin!!

Well, it really is a ‘high’. I was anticipating the feeling as I was walking my dog beforehand…already feeling great, knowing I’d feel even better soon…

Here’s my best description of how I feel right now:

JOY and HAPPINESS – I’m literally giggling to myself I feel so happy.

GRATEFUL – I’m full of gratitude and appreciation for my life and all the people in it.

BLESSED – I feel totally blessed that I get to feel this way…everyone should have this unbelievable feeling of total joy, bliss and happiness where all is right in the world…(in reality I know it’s not; however, this feeling also includes hope that it could be.)

POSITIVE – Feeling positive and upbeat leading to…

ENERGIZED – Tons of energy right now; I’m vibrating.

LOVE – I feel like I am all love…I know that sounds corny and I probably sound like some woo-woo chick from the sixties, but I don’t really care. I feel full of love, loving, loved, loveable, lovelovelove –it’s a beautiful thing!

FOCUSED – I know what I have to do today and for the rest of the week. I am very clear on my intentions for some challenges ahead.

CREATIVE – Oh ya, creative juices totally flow in this state…I write novels when I run…

SEXUAL – Yup, absolutely jacks up my sex drive (passionate, sensual etc)

ALIVE – I feel like I can sense every cell in my body…every thought, feeling, emotion and intention. It’s pure, raw energy!

So I think that’s it…if I had to describe it, that’s the best I can do in the state that I’m in….

This is the pure, raw endorphinated Tina.

After I sent the email I wondered if later I would shake my head and say,

“Tina, you were totally high.”

It didn’t matter, when I started to ‘come down’ I felt calm and at peace and I knew I spoke from a true, authentic place. It’s a beautiful way to live.

THIS IS WHY I JOG, TO BECOME THE ENDORPHINATOR!

Have an awesome, fun, silly, happy weekend and I’ll see you on Tuesday!

With a smile,

Tina

Tina’s Inner Gandhi:

The best facelift is a smile!

Did You Say SHOES?

I needed new shoes and once again, LadySport came to the rescue. I got the exact same pair of Mizunos because that brand seems to work for me. As usual, they gave me EXCEPTIONAL service and you just feel like you are surrounded by friends. They are having a HUGE SALE right now so don’t miss out on all the good stuff such as shoes, bras, skorts, rain gear (it’s coming whether we like it or not!) and so much more!

Long Jog Silver And Awaaay:

It’s a chaotic time and so I looked forward to this long jog to help me get centered and focused with my intentions. I did my usual route across Lion’s Gate and Burrard Street Bridge and it was a gorgeous but hot day. I felt good until around 26K and then it got really hard. There was plenty of self-talk happening to pull me through the final miles.

Long Jogs PART TWO – How To Get Through In One Piece – Training Tips Based On My Experience:

1.TALK NICE! – I won’t pretend and tell you long jogs aren’t difficult. They can be tough and so it’s extremely important to be kind to yourself when you are out there. I really moniter my thoughts and talk to myself with encouragement and positive energy. Be your own cheerleader. I’ll expand on this in the weeks to come.

2. LISTEN TO MUSIC – Ok, I get it now! I have been jogging in silence with just my thoughts and that really works for me. Jogging with music does help pass the time as you log on the miles and can give you a little burst of energy right when you need it.

3. MENTAL CHECK – Make sure you don’t enter a long run with the mindset of it being hard, because if you do, guarantee, it will be a difficult run. I don’t like running alone all the time but if I’m going to reach my goal I have to run, alone or not. For the long jogs I mentally start preparing myself the night before so I begin the run with positive thoughts and clarity. “This is going to be a great run!” gets me much further than “This is going to be so hard!”

4. BE AN OBSERVER – Do you know how many wonderful things I’ve seen jogging? I’ve ran by a whale that was right by the shore, I’ve seen eagles, harbour seals, herons and fish jumping. I’ve witnesses weddings, rock art, music, interesting conversations, found new restaurants and shops and I’m pretty sure I’ve ran past some celebrities. Observe the world around you, it’s very interesting and keeps you entertained.

It’s suppose to be another BEAUTIFUL weekend! The nights are arriving sooner so make sure you get out and enjoy the gorgeous sunshine while we still have our summer. It is a BLESSING and you’ll remember the memories of friends having a picnic far more than whether that pile of laundry got done.

With a smile,

Tina
